Women Finish Fifth and Men Sixth at MIAA Championships

ALMA, Mich. - The Bulldog track and field teams had to wait through a rain delay on Friday which proved to be a long second day at the MIAA Championships hosted by Alma College. The women's squad scored a total of 27 points and finished in fifth place while the men's team scored a total of 62 points and placed sixth.

The 4x100 men's relay consisting of Patrick Reagan, Desmond Upshaw, Ian Thornton and Chris Calley won a title by .40 seconds with a time of 42.05. The quartet also set a school record earlier in the outdoor season. Calley had the best all-around meet for the Bulldogs also finishing second in the 200 dash just .17 seconds out of first place with a time of 21.95. He also placed fifth in the 100 dash with a time of 11.09.

Thornton took an eighth place in the high jump earning one point clearing a height of 1.88 meters. He also placed seventh in the 100 dash with a time of 11.16 and sixth in the 200 dash with a time of 22.65. Bob Palmer earned five points with a fourth place finish in the 3,000 steeplechase with a time of 9:35.94. Chris Elsey placed fifth in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:07.36. He also came in sixth in the 800 meters with a time of 1:59.19. Kourtney Price earned five points in the 400 meters with a time of 50.84 placing fourth. Justin Kulman placed sixth in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 59.03 and Palmer placed eighth with a time of 1:00.45.

Brianna Davis and Caitlin Dickerson earned 11 points for the ladies in the shot put as Davis was third with a throw of 11.24 meters and Dickerson was fourth with a throw of 11.23 meters. The 4x100 relay consisting of Lindsay Chitwood, Allison Lofgren, Lucie Smith and Kelsey Miller placed sixth earning three points with a time of 56.10. Lofgren placed fifth in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 16.84. Chitwood claimed sixth in the 100 dash with a time of 13.28. The 4x400 relay consisting of the same athletes as the 4x100 relay also placed sixth in the event with a time of 4:41.32.
