ADRIAN, Mich. - The Adrian College men's basketball team returns seven players who filled the stat sheet a year ago with five of their top six scorers back in a Bulldog uniform for 2007-08. Only one true starter has left the program with the graduation of Andy Kubish. Kubish started 24 times last winter and averaged 31.5 minutes per game while also averaging 9.2 points per game which ranked third on the team. The emergence of junior guard Desmond Young (Grand Blanc, Mich.) was a bright spot from last year. Young did not play until eight games into the season after transferring but once he stepped on the court it was something to behold. Young was named First Team All-MIAA leading the team in scoring (14.6 ppg) while shooting a robust 46.2 percent from the floor. He led the team in scoring in seven MIAA contests as a sophomore and helped the team climb out of an 0-8 start in 2006-07. If you take away that beginning, Adrian finished 10-7 after December 30 with Young in the lineup. Senior guard Ryan Gallus (Roseville, Mich./Lakeview HS) returns as a legitimate scorer and long range threat. Gallus ranked second on the team in scoring (10.8 ppg) as a junior and started in 21 of the Bulldogs' 25 contests. Gallus ranked second on the team with 40 triples in 102 attempts (.392) and is the leading returning three-point shooter. He also led the team in assists with 69 and steals with 39. Senior forward Ian Weber (Defiance, Ohio/Tinora HS) is an out-of-state product that adds bulk and experience to the frontcourt. He led the team in rebounding (5.4 rpg) as a junior and shot 55.1 percent from the floor. Weber also influenced opponents shots blocking 29 to lead the squad. |
