Jan. 13, 2008 MEQUON, Wis. - The Bulldogs picked up where they left off last night, registering 77 shots on goal and scoring seven times to take a 7-2 victory over the Concordia University (Wisconsin) Falcons on Saturday afternoon. Junior and team captain Adam Krug started the scoring for the Bulldogs in Saturday's win with the team's third short-handed goal in two nights less than seven minutes into the contest. Two minutes later, Rob Hodnicki connected with Mike Fiorillo for his third goal of the season to put the Bulldogs up 2-0. AC would then get the game-winner later in the period when Shawn Skelly scored a power-play goal for the three goal advantage. The Falcons got on the scoreboard shortly thereafter when Eric Domaas would score his first goal of the season, narrowing the gap to 3-1. The Bulldogs then stretched their lead in the second period on goals by the two Eric's on the team. With each team down a player, Eric Miller scored his first goal of the night midway through the period to put the visitors up by three for the second time in the game. Two and a half minutes later, Eric Bailen stretched the Bulldog lead to four, scoring his seventh goal of the year. Christopher Thiess tried to breathe some life back into the Falcons by scoring his second goal in as many nights for the home team. Down the stretch, however, the high-powered Bulldog offense was too much for the Falcons to handle. In the third period alone, the Bulldogs put 35 shots on goal to keep the pressure on the Falcon defense. Shawn Skelly netted his second goal of the night just past the midway mark in the period to move the lead back to four for the Bulldogs. Eric Miller would then score his team-leading 17th goal of the season with just over two minutes left in the game to give the Bulldogs the 7-2 victory. Bryan Scott picked up the win in goal for the Bulldogs, making 14 saves in the 52 minutes he was on the ice. Jeremy Cross added three saves in the final half of the third period in goal. The Bulldogs were a perfect 8-of-8 in penalty-kill situations against the Falcons on Saturday while having 10 different players register at least one point in the win. In their next series, the Adrian College varsity men's hockey team will take to the road again, this time facing MCHA foe Minnesota-Crookston for a weekend tilt beginning on Saturday, January 19. |
