HUNTINGDON, Pa. - The women's basketball team dropped a 64-56 consolation game on Saturday afternoon to Hamilton College out of Clinton, New York at the Juniata Holiday Tournament and have now lost four of their last five contests heading into full-time conference play. The road and neutral game woes continued for Adrian as they are now 2-7 away from the Merillat Center. The Bulldogs had a balanced score sheet with six players scoring at least eight points. Liz Hafeli and Nichole Roose led the team with 10 points and combined to shoot 8-of-16 from the field. Roose was 4-of-9 overall and 2-of-4 from the arc to go with three rebounds and four assists. Hafeli came off the bench going 4-of-7 overall and 2-of-2 from deep in 16 minutes. Ashley McClarren contributed eight points and a team-high seven rebounds. She was 4-of-8 from the field and grabbed five offensive caroms in 24 minutes. Megan Bouwens followed up a 12-point performance last night with eight points including a 4-of-4 line at the charity stripe. Adrian came into the game with a +4.6 rebounding margin and outrebounded the Continentals by a 30-28 margin including a 10-4 edge in offensive boards. Hamilton seemingly won the game at the foul line going 19-of-23 (.826) while Adrian was just 4-of-6 (.667). Adrian led 9-8 at the 13:45 mark of the first half but could not regain the lead for the remainder of the contest. Hamilton led 32-21 at the break and led by as many as 15 points at 18:40 in the second half. The Bulldogs trailed by double digits until the 8:43 mark when Hafeli's three-pointer cut the lead to 44-37. Adrian made a late charge and trailed by three points, 53-50, with 1:40 left but Hamilton converted 9-of-10 at the line down the stretch to prevent a comeback bid. Sydney Fasulo led the Continentals with 22 points. Pumla Sathula recorded a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds in 39 minutes. |
