SOUTH PADRE ISLAND, Texas - The Adrian College women's basketball squad made a long voyage to the Lone Star State for the South Padre Island Shootout on Friday and the first day saw the Bulldogs fall 74-67 to Ohio Wesleyan. Adrian held an early lead in the contest at the 14:34 mark by a score of 8-7. Ohio Wesleyan would then take the lead for good and held a 33-22 lead at halftime. The Bulldogs trailed by 21 points with 6:10 to play but Adrian did not fold cutting the lead down to six points with 25 seconds to play. OWU shot the ball well from the arc going 9-of-18 and finished the game going 25-of-58 from the field. AC shot 46.8 percent for the game but were just 3-of-9 from the arc and 6-of-13 from the foul line. Kim Olech led Adrian with 14 points and six rebounds in 27 minutes. She was 6-of-10 from the floor and also had two blocks. Rita Carter scored 10 points off the bench and was 4-of-7 from the floor in 18 minutes. The Bulldogs also had 10 players who scored in the contest. |
