SOUTH PADRE ISLAND, Texas - The Adrian College women's basketball team improved to 3-6 overall with a resounding 86-40 win over Centenary College (NJ) in day two of the South Padre Island Shootout on Saturday. The Bulldogs got their largest margin of victory this season against a Cyclone team that falls to 3-3 overall. The starters carried the scoring load for Adrian but the leading scorer was reserve guard Anita Stamps who went 5-of-6 from the floor and 5-of-6 from the line for a season-high 16 points. Stamps also had three boards, three assists and three steals. Sophomore Kim Olech recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 boards in 17 minutes sitting out most of the second half with Adrian in charge of the contest. Adrian did not shoot the ball particularly well going 33-of-71 (.465) overall but just 4-of-16 from the arc. Adrian also could not find their touch at the foul line going 16-of-26 (.615). Centenary helped the Adrian cause with 27 turnovers as Adrian recorded 13 steals and converted several easy baskets. Jennifer Perrin had a solid game in the backcourt scoring 14 points and grabbing five boards in 24 minutes. Ashley McClarren went 5-of-6 from the field and scored 12 points while pulling down eight rebounds in 21 minutes. |
