Fresh off of one of the best seasons in recent history, the Adrian College softball team had four of its own honored by league coaches on Tuesday at the All-MIAA selection meeting. Holly Lowe (Dowagiac, Mich./Dowagiac H.S.) was named as one of the twelve First-Team All-MIAA honorees for her freshman campaign. The shortstop hit .449 (22-for-49) in MIAA play and tied for the conference lead in doubles with 10. Krissy Sheets, Katie Adams, and Kelly Tomasek were all given the nod for Second-Team accolades. Sheets (Temperance, Mich./Bedford H.S.) hit .373 in conference games in the lead-off spot for the Bulldogs while scoring 15 runs. The sophomore is being honored as an All-MIAA selection for the second time in as many seasons. Adams, a freshman from Flat Rock, Mich., led the team in conference batting average with a .500 clip (18-for-36) and on-base percentage (.550) in her first season with the Bulldogs. The .500 batting average was the fourth-highest average in the league in 2008. A native of Linden, Mich., Tomasek had a strong freshman year in the circle for the Bulldogs. The pitcher was second in the league in earned run average (1.83) and strikeouts (47) for the season. Hope College's Kylee Brouwer was named Most Valuable Player while Tri-State University's Elise English was tabbed as the league's Most Valuable Pitcher.
