ADRIAN, Mich. - Senior Lindsey Eshelman (Adrian, Mich.) is the 2008 recipient of the Sue Little Award presented by the MIAA. This award is in memory of Sue Little, a 1954 Albion College graduate, who was a conference singles champion. The winner of this award is selected by the tennis players as best exemplifying courtesy and sportsmanship both on and off the courts. The MIAA coaches nominate their own athletes and the players vote for the deserving individual. The name of the winner is placed on a traveling plaque which is kept in the possession of the recipient's college until the next conference tournament. Eshelman also receives an individual plaque for her own. "Lindsey is the model student-athlete and has availed herself of many academic and athletic growth opportunities while at Adrian," commented head coach David Kurvink. "The balance of athletics and academics is challenging enough, but to excel at both in addition to maintaining a positive attitude, is nothing short of remarkable. Lindsey is an excellent example and leader on and off the court and I could not think of a more deserving person." Eshelman posted a 10-9 record playing one and two singles this year. She also went 10-9 in doubles play in the number one spot. Eshelman also earned Second Team All-MIAA mention during volleyball in the fall. |
