ADRIAN, Mich. - The Adrian College volleyball team had another successful year in 2007 and a large part of that success can be traced to three Lenawee County players who all had a hand in 18 wins. The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) announced their all-conference teams this morning (Tuesday) and the Bulldogs had one first-team and two second-team selections. Senior Sara Morningstar from Addison was named First Team All-MIAA joining three players from Calvin and one player from Tri-State, Hope, Albion and Kalamazoo. Morningstar had a sensational season at the net leading the conference in total blocks (173) and blocks per game (1.56). She recorded ten or more blocks in three matches this season and tallied a season-high 13 blocks at Mount Union on September 1. Morningstar finished the year with 212 kills and had ten or more kills in four matches. She also ranked fourth in the MIAA in hitting percentage (.281) and had no more than four errors in any match this season. Senior Lindsey Eshelman from Adrian was named Second Team All-MIAA after being named First Team All-MIAA in 2005 and 2006. Eshelman led the team with 372 kills and ten or more kills in 19 matches this season. She tallied a season-high 25 kills on two occasions versus Manchester on October 13 and against Albion on October 18. Eshelman ranked ninth in the league in kills per game (3.32) and hit .233 for the year. She also recorded 257 digs and 45 blocks in 2007. Junior Jenny Carlson from Tecumseh was named Second Team All-MIAA making the list for the first time in her career. She ranked second on the team with 370 kills and ranked 10th in the conference in kills per game (3.30). Carlson tallied ten or more kills in 19 matches and had 20 or more kills in four contests. She tallied a season-high 24 kills and hit .358 against Olivet on October 16. Carlson also recorded 113 digs and 87 blocks for the Bulldogs. |
